Summer Camp

It is time to start thinking about summer camp. This year due to the merging of the Milwaukee , Racine and Kenosha councils we have many more options for summer camp. In addition to Indian Mound Reservation in Oconomowoc we now  have the opportunity to attend Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta in Burlington. These camps have different dates and program options to choose from. Your den leaders will discuss these options at an upcoming meeting and will also have the forms to register for camp.

Don’t miss out on the fun, get registered soon!

CUBBIE – GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

Today Pack 592 learned the sad news that Cubbie has been lost and is presumed dead.  Sources reported that he was likely picked up by a garbage truck after a cub scout pick up basketball game.

Cubbie was a model scout.  He was in full uniform at every pack meeting. Though he often smelled like sardines, the cub scout dens fought over who could take Cubbie home and play with him.  Cubbie loved playing cub scout games, and excelled at statue maker and the staring game.  He was always cheerful, as if a smile was plastered on his face.

Witnesses say that the last thing they saw Cubbie doing was attempting to put on a Webelos scarf.

Random Den Happenings

2009 March Den Meeting

Bear Den 2 boys had the opportunity to meet with Sheriff’s Deputy Dave DeSmet at their March Den Meeting.  The boys learned the most important rule about gun safety, always treat a gun as if it is loaded.  Along with learning more gun safety rules, the boys saw an actual taser gun and a pepper spray bottle.  Mr. DeSmet showed the boys the electrical arches of the taser and really had their attention!  After showing them his handcuffs and bulletproof vest, Mr. DeSmet talked to them about what he does as a Sheriff’s Deputy.  Besides working on the road helping with accidents and criminals, Mr. DeSmet has taught at the academy.  For the first 5 years working for the department, Mr. DeSmet worked at the jail where he became very proficient at taking fingerprints.  To demonstrate, each boy was fingerprinted by Mr. DeSmet on an actual fingerprint card.  The boys had lots of great questions for Mr. DeSmet and he patiently answered them all!  A special thanks to Mr. DeSmet for taking the time out to meet with our boys!
